Chapter 2013

written on jan 6.

you've waited for that moment to come and you thought you were prepared for it.  honestly, regardless of how much you've poured many hours dreaming of it night and day, it will never be sufficient to prepare yourself for that moment.

the memorable dinner
on the evening of the sixth day of january two thousand and thirteen, jk caught me by surprise with asking the question.  it's not actually a question you hear countless times in the movies but his was a question that never will be answerable by a yes or a no.

it started when he asked if i will be taking on his surname when we get married - he does not mind if i still retain mine.  then he said that this dinner was meant to be an engagement dinner.

i got nervous.

all of a sudden, i got nervous.  asking him if he was being serious.  he laughs as he always laughs while repeating the words that i said.

i drank my wine.  and drank some more.  and more...

out of words,  i did not say anything back.  a reply which is answerable by 'ok'.  an answer which will put me to the next phase of my life.  i was daunted.

it was awkward.

he asked if he disappointed me when the "proposal" came and i said i was surprised.  i didn't expect it.  i thought that this conversation/proposal will never happen on this australian visit.  i never entertained that possibility but it is lurking inside my head.

new year's eve
happy couple
we left the restaurant and sat on a bench along yarra river.  he said that he doesn't know what to say as he has never done this before.  he rephrased and asked if we can make a good couple and i said yes.

back at the hotel, he ask if i said yes.  i told him what was the question again.  we joked and laughed about it and i told him that i wish he would have popped the question while we are on a hot air balloon.  a grand gesture, a moment of quiver, a heart-stopping proposal.  he said that he's not that type of person.  he doesn't know how but all he knows that he loves me.

he loves me.

he asks "will you be my wife?".  i said yes.

several minutes later, he finally pops the question, "will you marry me?"

and i said yes.
