birthday newsbits

it's been a week since my birthday. now my days are as normal as when the christmas season and new year had gone by. time to take the decorations back to the the storage room. back to my normal life.

my birthday this year was a great one by far. the celebration of my 33rd birthday lasted for almost 2 weeks from a pre-birthday to birthday to post-birthday bash. indeed it was a special week for me as i celebrated it with family friends, gal pals, siblings and niece.

pre-birthday bash: my trip with gal pals to kota kinabalu, malaysia from april 6-10. i was able to finally experience white water rafting and parasailing - 2 things i have been wanting to do for 3 years now. the rafting left me with a lot of bruises on my right leg and hand while the parasailing gave me a natural high, floating around a hundred feet over the sabah sea seeing jellyfishes swimming with my new bestie along for the 15-minute ride.
birthday bash: started out with a lunch treat from my confirmation godmother, mrs. go, at mongkok dimsum & noodles restaurant located in santana grove sucat. we had dimsum for lunch and it was delicious. afterwhich, we had desserts at icebergs courtesy of gerry.

my mid-afternoon was spent on my annual "pamper me day". if i am not mistaken, this would be my 5th or 6th year where i always treat myself to a spa day. this year, i went to the spa at the fort and chose the refreshing start package to be done at my own villa - complete with overhead rainshower which also is the steam room, a jacuzzi tub and massage bed. with this i got to experience my first bubble bath!
i initially intended to have a delicious steak dinner by myself at either duo steakhouse & wine bar or mamou but ended up dining with my childhood friend and her boyfriend to mezzaluna - a surprise birthday gift given by joy. my day is getting better and better by the minute!
the final 4 hours of the 15th day of april plus 2 hours of the 16th was spent at barcino's with - on the order of arrival - april, joy, me, celia, gemma and lara. all 6 of us laughed, took pictures, drank 3 bottles of wine, ate tapas and cheese platter. got drunk, of course, but i got home safe and sound with minor damage to the van - the radio antenna got caught in a tree.
post-birthday bash: sister, niece and i checked-in at sofitel philippine plaza. che and joy visited me in the afternoon and we had mango daiquiri cocktail. we ate dinner at spirals courtesy of kuya. food was great. the bed was even greater and not to mention the bathroom. i always love sleeping at a 5-star hotel just because of the comfort i get when sleeping there.
still did not want to end my birthday celebration, i crashed in fraser where gemma was checked-in on sunday night and had dinner at big buddha to celebrate che's birthday with her family. this, finally, culminated my celebration.

this 2-week long celebration is a first for me. i felt really special most especially on the day of my birth. i am grateful to have found friends like them.

cheers to the blessings that come along my way! and here's hoping that next year would be as special as this one, if not way better than the last!!

-- oOo -- oOo --

though my day was an unforgettable day of my life, it came with some bumps along the way. for one, LTO refused to renew my license because i was not able to provide a copy of my TIN. i just don't get the logic of requiring the TIN number in renewing your license and motor vehicle. plus the fact that taxpayers money always ended up on the pockets of corrupt officials.

secondly, for my sister blaming me for hanging up the phone on june 2008. i honestly thought that the rift between us will finally come to a close. but hey! it ended up by her hanging the phone on me. so i guess she got her revenge.

here's the thing. i have no reason to apologize for last year. i was hurt. i needed a motherly comfort. i did not get it from her. she got pissed because i woke her up at 3 am. so i now know whom to not ask for help in times of trouble.

maybe she does not understand what i was feeling then because she never experienced it in the first place. so eventhough the pain was excruciating, i am glad i've gone through with it because what hurts you will only make you stronger.
