we do not walk the same path twice

so i am back in the philippines from a 5-day vacation with the girls in kota kinabalu malaysia and i must say i had an awesome adventure over there.

day 1:
we arrived at KK around 7 in the evening. the weather was the same as manila. took a picture of me and april on the tarmac only to be called attention that it was prohibited. i apologized and went straight to immigration and filled up the embarkation form to be submitted along our passport. got to a taxi and headed for king park hotel. to our surprise, we got the best location to our hotel as we were just 10 minutes away from wa heng seafood restaurant for our first dinner in this city and 5 more minutes away from the waterfront. food was delicious and cheap at this restaurant. we were served by fellow filipino named hector who has been living there since 1994. after dinner, we tried the fried ice cream at it was delicious too.

visited the waterfront to checkout what is there and took note of the places we wanted to visit for the next few days. we went back to the hotel to rest in preparation for tomorrow.

day 2:
woke up early and had breakfast at the hotel. afterwhich, we went straight to the travel agency to book our whitewater rafting and 2 island tours. once when we decided to book the tour, we left to go to centerpoint mall to have our money changed to RM. we went back and booked our tours only to find out that the original price we saw was the old rate. too late to back out, we decided to book it anyway.

next stop, we went straight to the free shuttle ride to 1borneo. a new lifestyle hypermall in the city. it was huge. but nothing great to see as glorietta is way better than theirs. but overall, it was ok. we had lunch there at their foodcourt. we had to change our money for coupons for us to buy our food. nothing nice to buy as the merchandise there are also available in our country except that i was able to buy a laptop cooler for RM 14.90 (Php 195) and a 4gb kingston thumbdrive for RM 31.90 (Php 450). i was expecting to buy some girly stuff at the mall only to end up buying gadgets. so 3 hours later, we were back at the waterfront to watch the sunset and drink alcohol.

we were able to catch their happy hour so i was able to order 2 kinds of beer at cock and bull. one is beck and the other one is heinekken. i love the taste of beck. it is not too bitter and i was able to finish it without the gagging factor.

off we went to little italy only for dinner. when we got there, it was closed! you see, we walked about 20 to 30 minutes so imagine when we found that out. so we decided to head back again to the waterfront to eat dinner at kohinoor - a north indian restaurant instead. on the way, we took pictures of ourselves at the harbor, passed by the market and by the time we arrived, we were hungry. food was good at kohinoor most especially their french fries and grilled chicken served by fellow filipino named abnel. we had red wine too.

day 3:
we went white water rafting at the kiulu river which is about 1.5 hours away from KK. our instructor/guide, misol, made sure we had fun. i ended up having 2 bruises at my right leg and another one on my hand. casualties of war. misol and his fellow guide made fun of us by pulling us out the raft and into the water. you see, i would not go under without a fight. so i made sure that they will also fall with me. i was successful with it and so darn proud of it. ain't gonna be girly when it comes to this and we really had a great time with them. we learned a lot on how to go about white water rafting. from forward paddle, backward paddle, how to get out when the raft flipped over you to how to swim if you fell - forgot the term.

ate dinner at hongkong recipe - warisan square.

in the evening, we went to bed, short for best entertainment destination to watch pinoys performing. we were able to meet them and took pictures with them. one pinay there was so beautiful here name is bev. we danced the night away, drank 3 pitchers of margarita and left the scene at passed 1 in the morning.

day 4:
visited manukan and sapi island. the beach there were good but still cannot compare to our beaches here in the philippines. one thing to note that there are school of fish nearby. so this means that the place is beautifully maintained. finally signed up for parasailing at manukan. and i was happy that the adventures i wanted to do i was able to do it in KK and take note, at a cheaper price! unfortunately, i have to make a new adventure list for me to accomplish. learned a new sport - frisbee.

transferred to sapi island to have our lunch there. a lot of people around so we decided to sit and talk with another pinoy. took pictures of their big lizards and wild boar before heading back to the city.

gone back to little italy for our dinner. it was delicious that we decided to go back tomorrow for our lunch. we ate ravioli and a large pizza. decided to go back to the hotel and retire early.

day 5:
visited atkinson clock tower and signal hill before heading to little italy. we thought we could get to the place by foot only to find out that there was no sidewalk on the way up. so we decided to hire a taxi for RM 20 to take us to atkinson and signal hill.

overall, my trip was enjoyable. i get to be with my friends and enjoy the single life.

next destination: ???
